Mike McGuirt heads up Student Support for Drone Pilot Ground School. He served almost 28 years in the US Air Force where he held various management and leadership roles in human resources, supporting personnel around the globe. Additionally, he had assignments in the precision measurement equipment laboratory where he was responsible for repair, calibration, and modification of test, measurement, and diagnostic equipment.
Mike has a BS in Industrial Technology from Southern Illinois University and an MA in Management and Leadership from Webster University.
Mike has been a high school aerospace science instructor for the last 3 years. In 2015, as a way to incorporate STEM (science, technology, engineering, and math) into the classroom, he received his first drone and his passion for teaching others about drone technology began. Mike’s program now has 5 drones, and in addition to supporting the local community, he is working toward getting his students qualified and certified to fill various drone operator roles after high school.
